Back to Life
Alice’s current series Back to Life, launched with a bursary from A-n The Artist Information Company/Arts Council England (2020) explores how waterfowl living on the canals and riverways of London act as icons of nature in bloom- while a powerful energy lurks within.
Her subjects are depicted with an admiring attentiveness to form, shape and line, conveyed via a visually stimulating combination of painted and drawn layers which are designed to encourage the audience to lean in. This follows the key concept underpinning Alice’s work: that proximity to an artwork can engender proximity to all creation.
